Alex Telfer New Branding

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the comprehensive new Alex Telfer branding. The whole project has been a real labour of love and as a result, has brought together a collection of some of the greatest creative minds in fashion, literature and graphic design to help make Alex's vision a reality. You can view the new website @ http://www.alextelfer.com/
Alex firstly commissioned the very talented Studio Precept to undertake the extensive work which included redesigning the portfolio, logo type, website and the limited edition monograph of St Mary's Asylum.
During the process Alex worked with the great fashion designer Nigel Cabourn and Taylor Kent to design and make the amazing portfolio bags. Nigel used a range of fabrics in their manufacture for which he has become synonymous, Ventile, Harris Tweed and the finest Army Canvas and Leather are lavished on the finished product.
The new portfolio design consist of a gorgeous handmade box which contains 30 photographic prints each made on 325 gsm art stock and debossed with the newly created logo. In the bottom of the box is a space to house the St Mary's Asylum Monograph. It is a design which gets right back to basics in understated, high end photographic presentation but in a way that allows the viewer to feel fully connected with the work.

Alex Telfer shoots for BJL Group

An ad campaign for the Manchester Art Gallery from agency BJL Group. Alex superimposes faces from some of the gallery's paintings onto contemporary figures. If you are a regular visitor to the Manchester Art Gallery you might know who is who.

The image of the cyclist features James Collinson's A Son of the Soil. The café-goer is  factory owner James Curtis, as painted by Sir James Lawrence. The face of this young lady idly texting a friend is from Bower Meadow by Dante Gabriel Rosetti.  But I am sure discerning reader of a blog like ours knew this anyway.

Alex Telfer shoots for Nigel Cabourn

Nigel Cabourn is a fashion brand with a real sense of heritage and identity. Read more about the brand here http://www.cabourn.com/biography.html.

In 2012 Alex shot a series of images for their heirtage clothing, combining his classic approach to shooting people with his ability to shoot still life when required. I love the feel of these shots and I think I might pop into their Shoreditch store to Cabourn myself up - spot on for this cold weather we are enduring.

Alex Telfer shoots for Diageo / TFL in a drink awareness campaign

Urging us to drink responsibly, as we do, this shot by Alex Telfer shows that there are two free routes home provided by TFL. One is a chauffeur driven ambulance, the other is rammed together on the tube. Make sure you drink responsibly and choose the right option this holiday period.

Images are that 5 years or older are being edited out of our website

On the day of the AOP Awards we thought it was fitting that we boldly decide to remove all images on our website that are five years or older. So with a fine(ish) tooth comb we have gone through our site and edited out all those slightly older images. It means saying good bye to some classic award winning images a few of which are featured below - lets hope we win some awards tonight! It is an effort to keep the imagery on our site and of the photographers that we represent utterly contemporary. Also, if you can not remember a particular image after it having been showcased for at least the last five years, it should probably be dropped anyway!

Alex Telfer: The Pain Within

Alex attended the launch of The Pain Within exhibition in Hamburg. This whole project has taken a long time to eventually come to life but on the 21 st September the collection of eighteen images was unveiled to the public.

The large scale of the prints really highlighted the suffering of people who endure Neuropathic Pain on a daily basis. The evening was a great success with more than two thousand people visiting on the night.

The Pain Within programme was created to mirror the exhibition and offer a fuller range of stories of the people involved.

Aswell as the images there was a film on show of the making of the project which can be seen here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgX2qwNt1LE

Thanks to Sue Wood &  Mindy Dooa of Astellas for sponsoring the entire project and to all the team from Ketchum Pleon for promoting it.
